Secure Intaglio Printing

Intaglio Print is used for the production of high-security documents. Intaglio printed images are tactile, with the ability to verify them through touch and feel due to the ink being raised above the surface of the paper. We can use a variety of inks to add extra layers of security such as infrared and fluorescent features, amongst others. The use of Intaglio printing and equipment is highly restricted and is reserved for the use of high security printing companies. Intaglio print is internationally recognised by Governments, border agencies and central banks as a high security feature.

What Is Intaglio Printing Used For?

Intaglio printing is commonly used for high-security documents such as banknotes, passports, immigration vias, certificates and tax stamps. Additionally, high-value documents can benefit from this type of security feature including bearer bonds, title documents, stock and share certificates as well as brand protection stickers.

Intaglio Printing Security

Intaglio printing produces a tactical raised ink with very fine, detailed lines. This micro-printing can be authenticated using a magnifying glass or microscope, making it a very secure way of printing as it is hard to replicate and can be verified without the use of specialised equipment. Simply using touch and sight will allow someone to authenticate the features. It is a highly restricted technique which provides additional assurance of authenticity.

    FAQS

Intaglio printing is a printing process in which an image is etched or engraved onto a surface. Intaglio printing has a distinctive and tactile effect which can be felt as the ink is raised above the surface of the paper.

A metal plate is used in the printing technique known as intaglio printing to etch or engrave an image, which is subsequently used to transfer ink onto paper or other surfaces.

You can use intaglio printing for banknotes, passports, immigration visas, tax stamps, bearer bonds, title documents, stocks and share certificates and brand protection stickers.

Intaglio printing is highly secure due to it being raised printing which creates a raised image on the paper which can then be felt by touch for verification. It can also include fine-line printing, watermarks, microprinting and guilloche patterns.
