From 5-8 July, A1 will be participating in the biennial Association of African Universities Conference.

Based in Accra, Ghana, the Association of African Universities (AAU) is an international non-profit higher education organization dedicated to enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education in Africa, and currently has a membership of about 400 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from 46 African countries.

The (AAU) will be hosting its 15th general conference themed ‘The Future of African Education’ from 5-8 July. Member institutions, including policy makers, academics, researchers, and donors in higher education, will deliberate about the sector’s relevance in a globally competitive economy as it faces challenges such as COVID-19, inadequate funding and the migration to mainstream online or e-learning.

Due to COVID precautions and travel restrictions, the AUU will be hosting this year’s conference virtually, with around 5000 participants from Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas expected to join the conference online.

As with most organisations, The AUU have needed to adapt to the challenges of the ongoing pandemic. This year, participants will receive their certificate of participation as an e-certificate, rather than the usual printed certificate. A1SP will be providing the e-certificates, which incorporate layers of physical and state-of-the-art digital security features.

A1SP’s Commercial Manager Nick Smith, who attended the previous conference in Cairo in 2019, commented on this year’s event:

“The AAU provide a terrific service as a forum for Universities to share experiences and learn from each other. A1SP work with many of the Universities and Awarding Bodies across Africa, and we are delighted to be involved in supporting this years’ AAU General Conference by once again providing the Certificates of Participation.”
